Cookie Policy

Good news: our website keeps things simple. We don’t use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. This page explains the small amount of technology we do use, and how you stay in control.

Last updated: 20 October 2026

1. What are cookies and similar technologies?

Cookies are small text files that a website saves in your browser so it can remember something about your visit. Similar technologies do much the same job in other ways – for example, local storage saves a small piece of information in your browser, and some websites load content (like fonts, images or maps) from other companies’ servers, which means those companies receive your device’s IP address.

Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), a website can only store or read information on your device without asking if it is strictly necessary to provide something you have asked for. Anything else needs your consent.

2. Our website at a glance

  • Visitor statistics without cookies (Vercel Web Analytics). No Google Analytics.
  • No advertising or social media tracking pixels.
  • No cookies are set when you arrive on our website.
  • One small, strictly necessary item in your browser’s local storage, used only when you send our quote form.
  • Google Maps cookies only if you choose to click “Show map”.

Because nothing optional runs until you ask for it, we don’t show you a cookie banner.

3. What we use and why

Name / provider Type Purpose How long Category
dc_quote_sent
D C Decorators (this website)
Browser local storage (not a cookie) Saves the time you last sent our quote form, so the form can stop duplicate or spam submissions sent within 60 seconds. It contains no personal information and is never sent to us or anyone else. Stays in your browser until you clear it; only acted on for 60 seconds Strictly necessary – no consent needed
Google Maps cookies (for example NID and similar)
Google
Third-party cookies Set by Google only after you click “Show map”. Google uses them to make the map work, remember preferences and for its own purposes, as described in its policies. Set by Google – typically up to around 6 months; see Google’s policy Optional – only with your consent (your click)
Google Fonts
Google (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com)
Content loaded from Google’s servers – no cookies Displays the typefaces used on our website. Google receives your IP address and browser details in order to send the font files. No cookies stored Website display
Vercel Web Analytics
Vercel Inc.
Script loaded from our own website – no cookies, nothing stored on your device Counts page visits so we can see which pages are read and how people find us (for example, from a Google search). It records the page, the website you came from, your country, and your browser, operating system and device type. Visits are told apart using a code made from your request details, which is discarded within 24 hours. Your IP address is not stored. No cookies stored Website statistics
Unsplash images
Unsplash (images.unsplash.com)
Content loaded from Unsplash’s servers – no cookies Displays some of the photos on our website. Unsplash receives your IP address and browser details in order to send the images. No cookies stored Website display

4. The Google Map

Our contact section can show a Google Map of where we’re based. To protect your privacy, the map does not load automatically. Instead you’ll see a “Show map” button. Nothing is sent to Google Maps and no Google Maps cookies are set unless you click it.

When you click “Show map”, you are giving your consent for the map to load from Google. Google will then receive your IP address and may set or read cookies on your device. Google is responsible for how it uses that information – please see:

If you’d rather not load the map, you don’t need to – our full address is shown next to it: 2 Crooksbroom Lane, Edwin Lodge, Hatfield, Doncaster DN7 6HP. To withdraw your consent after loading the map, simply leave or reload the page (the map won’t load again unless you click) and clear Google cookies from your browser as described below.

5. Fonts and images from other websites

Our website fonts come from Google Fonts and some photos come from Unsplash. When your browser fetches them, these companies receive your IP address and basic technical information about your browser – this is how the internet works when content comes from another server. They do not set cookies through our website. We rely on our legitimate interest in displaying our website properly for this. You can read more in the Google Fonts privacy FAQ and the Unsplash privacy policy.

Our website provider, Clientee, also records basic technical information (such as IP addresses) in server logs to deliver the website and keep it secure. Our hosting does not set any cookies.

6. How to control or clear cookies and local storage

You are always in control. Most browsers let you see, block and delete cookies and site data:

Clearing “cookies and site data” for our website also removes the dc_quote_sent item from local storage. Blocking it won’t stop you using the website; the only effect is that our double-submission check won’t work. Blocking third-party cookies may stop the Google Map from working fully.

For general information about cookies, visit the Information Commissioner’s Office guidance at ico.org.uk.

7. Changes to this policy

If we ever add anything new – for example, new analytics or marketing tools – we will update this policy first and, where the law requires, ask for your consent before any optional cookies are used. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when this page was last changed.

This policy is effective from 29 September 2026.
